City & Guilds, London Memberships Licentiateship & Graduateship for IIESL Members
 
The Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Sri Lanka has formally received the confirmation from City & Guilds, London Institute, offering C&G Licentiateship for IIESL Associate Members and Graduateship for Corporate Members, under the delegated authority scheme.

Licentiateship (LCGI)
The Licentiateship award is at a supervisory / junior management level and mapped to level 4 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF). Licentiateship holders are entitled to use the post nominal letters LCGI and wear the approved gown, hood and mortar board.

Graduateship (GCGI)
The Graduateship award is at a middle management level and mapped to a British Honours degree and is level 6 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF). Graduateship holders are entitled to use the post nominal letters GCGI and wear the approved gown, hood and mortar board.

Under the delegated authority scheme, IIESL will gain exclusive rights to act on behalf of City & Guilds for the above purpose. The responsibility shall then lie with IIESL to asses and recommend applications for the above class of memberships. On the recommendation of IIESL, the respective qualifications will be awarded by City & Guilds.

The qualifications gained through City & Guilds are locally and internationally recognized, thus elevating our current memberships at par with all other competing institutions.

Dear Friends,

Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Sri Lanka (IIESL) is a professional body incorporated under a parliamentary act in Sri Lanka to enhance the professional status of Incorporated Engineers in Sri Lanka. IIESL is being already earmarked to become a definite member of the future Engineering Council of Sri Lanka which will be the only legal authority in Sri Lanka who could grant permits to practice in the engineering disciplines in Sri Lanka.

IIESL’s first ever overseas branch was established in UAE two years ago. We are proud to say that this is the first overseas branch of any Sri Lankan Professional Organisation. Since its inception due to the dedication of our committed membership we have been able to create an atmosphere in UAE where our members could become fully fledged professionals by acquiring world renowned qualifications such as Bachelor of Information Technology, Graduateship in City and Guilds London and Master of Business Administration etc. during the past year.

We would like to see that all eligible candidates for IIESL memberships who are working in the UAE to be benefited from such programmes initiated by us by taking the memberships in our prestigious institution. With that objective we are now planning to have our next membership drive parallel to our second Annual General Meeting, where the President and Council Members of IIESL- Colombo will be gracing the occasion, tentatively in December 2007.

We have following categories of memberships open.

• Corporate Member.
• Associate Member.
• Associate.

Those who are eligible for any of the categories as per IIESL by laws and interested to become members please follow the action plan as indicated below;

• Duly filled application form, on line or printed format to be submitted to the undersigned on or before 25th September  2007.
• Obtain verification on your eligibility to become a member of IIESL and category of the membership.
• Prepare for Professional Revive/Viva  in November 2007 for which the dates and times will be notified later.

 Further Education and Professional Competence. IIESL Part 1,2 and 3 examinations.

Students who wish to further their carrier in the fields of engineering and technology will have the opportunity very soon. IIESL is in the progress of launching a programme for those who are interested in studying further and obtain professional qualifications like MIIESL. 

The objective of IIESL:

• To create a path to join IIESL, as an Associate Member who does not posses the required Diploma qualifications.

And

• Arrange Part I, II & III examinations and registration of members for part I, to start this year.
